Reverse Engineering

Whilst studying Integrated Design Engineering (MEng) at the University of Bath, I completed a reverse engineering module where I completed a systemic process of "mechanical dissection" and product analysis of kitchen equipment - in this case an electronic grater. A series of six posters were produced to identify and evaluate the user experience of the product; component functions, and manufacturing/assembly process. This resulted in an improvement in analytical thinking, design communication, technical understanding of engineering design details and concept generation following the reverse engineering process.

Analysis of User Experience

Reviewing the product experience from the unboxing to frequent use and misuse - thus developing expertise in product analysis.

Analysis of Component Role and Function

A systematic process of mechanical dissection of the product, as to build technical understanding of engineering design details and determine the function of components.

Analysis of Manufacturing Processes

Identifying and appraising, in detail, engineering materials, manufacturing processes, and product assembly processes.
